When Do Mould and Bacteria Become a Problem, and When Does Antibacterial Treatment Make Sense?

Polyester materials have one major advantage: they are not of organic origin. What does this mean in practice? If humidity does not exceed 85%, microorganisms simply cannot survive on them. This is why antibacterial treatment makes no difference in dry environments—it would merely be an unnecessary expense for you.

However, there are situations where treatment is beneficial. For example, in environments with humidity levels above 90%, such as dairies, bakeries, or slaughterhouses.

In these conditions, mould and bacteria can multiply rapidly. And this is a problem—especially if you work in the food industry, where any contamination poses a risk of significant losses.

But even in humid environments, antibacterial treatment is not always necessary. When? Consider the following scenarios:

  • The ducts operate exclusively with fresh air, not recirculated air.
  • The system runs continuously—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Under these conditions, microorganisms simply do not have the opportunity to develop.

Gentle and Effective Antibac-E Treatment

Traditional antibacterial treatments often rely on chemicals or silver ions that burden the environment. With Antibac-E, we offer an approach that is both eco-friendly and highly effective.

This treatment is suitable for all permeable materials, regardless of their color. However, we do not recommend its application on non-permeable materials. Why? Although such surfaces might seem easier to maintain, they can quickly become ideal breeding grounds for mould and bacteria.

The treatment is applied during washing by adding a special agent. This protection lasts for up to three washing cycles and can be easily renewed afterward. Moreover, thanks to Euro Air materials’ excellent dust-retention properties, you can extend the intervals between washing cycles.

Antibac-E is fully certified according to:

  • EN ISO 20743:2013 – Determination of antibacterial activity of textile products
  • EN ISO 20645:2004 – Determination of antibacterial activity
